Take the time to visit the Sunriver Nature Center & Observatory located in Sunriver, Oregon just south of Bend and you will be greeted by friendly staff and volunteers who are enthused about helping you enjoy a fun view of the environment.
During the day, the visitor can enjoy hands-on exhibits involving reptiles, mammals, amphibians and birds that call Central Oregon their home. A nature talk will educate the visitor about the animals that live in the area. Check out the forest and marsh inhabitants by taking a walk along the Sam Osgood Nature Trail. Here you can see bald eagles, marsh birds, check for animal tracks and even view a dormant volcano. Visit the botanical garden and learn about the native wildflowers and trees.
At the Observatory, you can view sunspots and solar anomalies with special filters on the telescopes. During the evening, with the help of the knowledgeable staff, you can gaze at stars and planets. At the Observatory, you will see the vast numbers of stars in the sky. The Sunriver Observatory is a total hands on experience.
