Nestled along the banks of the Deschutes River amidst Ponderosa pine, juniper and sagebrush is Tumalo State Park. Just a few minutes northwest of Bend, Tumalo State Park is the perfect place to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life for an afternoon or several days at a time. Visitors to the park can enjoy picnicking, fishing, camping out under the stars, or hiking along the river.

Activities

  • Camping – The quiet campground at Tumalo State Park offers 54 tent sites and 23 full hook-up sites. There are also 7 yurts, a hiker/biker camp, and 2 group camping sites. Shower facilities and flush toilets are available.
  • Fishing – The beautiful Deschutes River, known for excellent trout fishing, flows right next to the park.
  • Hiking – Scenic hiking trails near Tumalo Park follow the river’s edge. Hikers may glimpse some of the area’s native wildlife.

Fun Facts

  • The yurts at Tumalo State Park can be used year round. These domed tents have carpeted floors, lights, heat, and beds complete with mattresses. They also have wood doors that can be locked.
  • Spring and late summer are the best times to fish for German trout and rainbow trout in the Deschutes.
