A naturally-occurring steep-sided bowl in the Mount Hood National Forest, Mt. Hood Skibowl offers 960 acres and 1500 vertical feet of ski-able terrain, almost two thirds of which are lit nightly for night skiing. The Skibowl includes 300 acres of "Outback" skiing for an incredible in-bounds "backcountry" experience. Pair a day in the Outback with Mt. Mt. Hood Skibowl offers the winter traveler much more than the average ski area. Snowmobile rentals, a snow tubing park, and dogsled rides are all available on site, as well as the ever-memorable horse-drawn sleigh ride through the snow. Professionally-run ski race camps are also a popular amenity for up-and-coming racers at the mountain.

In nearby Government Camp, Oregon, superb ice-climbing attracts well-versed locals as well as interested newcomers. For the Nordic aficionado, Mount Hood National Forest is home to 200 km. of cross-country ski trails, including the popular, oft-groomed Trillium Lake Trail.
