MONTHS ON SNOW
Offering the most vertical feet in the northwest, at 3,590, Timberline Lodge Ski Area has something for all levels of skiing, any day of the year. In the winter, Timberline receives so much snowfall they often use snow cats to dig out their chairlifts. With so much snow, skiing conditions are generally phenomenal, whether up on the wide-open snowfield or down in the lower glades. In summer, Palmer Snowfield provides enough snow for a wide variety of snow sports, most notably skiing, both recreational and alpine racing, and snowboarding. Indeed, Timberline crawls with Olympic and World Cup skiers and snowboarders all summer long as they prepare for the upcoming winter season.
HISTORIC LANDMARK
The historic Timberline Lodge, located at 6,000 feet, still operates as the resort's main lodging option. A National Historic Monument, the majestic lodge was erected from 1936 to 1938 as part of the Depression-era Works Progress Administration, allotting much-needed jobs to local laborers. Franklin Delano Roosevelt dedicated the building in 1937. In 1939, the Magic Mile chairlift was unveiled, becoming the longest running chairlift on the continent at that time.
Whether you come to Timberline for the skiing or for the cozy ambience of the Lodge, your vacation will be an unforgettable one!
